EAZ

Ashington Education Achievement Zone

The Ashington EAZ is a partnership between the 21 schools in the area covered by Ashington High and Hirst High Schools, and a variety of public, private and voluntary sector agencies working locally in the community. As well as the two high schools, there are 13 first and 6, middle schools.

What has the EAZ done for us?

Strengthened relationships between the schools. We have a clear, shared vision and see ourselves as a major driving force within the community, leading a whole programme of lifelong learning that will affect pupils, parents, volunteers, staff and all other people who can make a contribution to schools. At a management level we now have a more collegiate approach where we are able to share expertise and resources. By working together we are stronger and more effective.

The EAZ has Provided funding which has helped to:

Classroom Assistant Joanne Dryburgh.
  • Purchase computer equipment

  • Pay for the Bobby Charlton Sky Soccer School to which 12 of our pupils were invited.
